Claire has always had an itch to write stories. She was raised on all the classic British murder mysteries, from Agatha Christie to Dorothy Sayers and many more, and considers a story to be incomplete if it does not contain at least one dead body.
Many years as an organic inspector in the big maple sugar camps in the remote woods of northwestern Maine gave her the inspiration for her debut novel, “Murder in the Maple Woods”. The whodunit combines the death of a boy with a portrait of the tough, unique, and little-understood life in the camps. Its sequel, “Body in the Blueberry Barrens”, finds the protagonist and her dog involved in thedeath of an organic blueberry grower in the far reaches of Downeast Maine.
