D. A. Hurd Library cards

How to get a library card:

A library card is free to the residents of North Berwick and students (and their families) attending MSAD #60 schools.

Reciprocal borrowing privileges are extended to patrons of the South Berwick and Berwick Public Libraries.

  • Proof of address and a picture ID are required.
  • Parent/Guardian signature is required for children under 18 years of age.

Non-residents may obtain a library card for an annual fee of $10.00 per family.

Your signature on your library card affirms that you accept our lending/borrowing policy and take responsibility for materials borrowed on your card.

Loan Procedures   Print items are checked out for 3 weeks with the option to renew.  Kits, games, backpacks, musical instruments are checked out for 1 week with the option to renew.  Interlibrary loan materials and items on reserve for another patron are generally not renewable.

Print library materials, audiobooks, and DVDs may be returned to the circulation desk in the library or in our book drop which is available 24/7 and located to the left of the entrance door from the parking lot area.   Please return Kits, games, backpacks, musical instruments in person to the circulation desk rather than in the book drop.

Overdue fines have been eliminated except for Equipment (Telescope, STEM kits, Backyard Games etc.), which carries a fine of $5.00 per day.

Monetary donations are welcome.

All lost materials or materials damaged beyond repair must be paid for.  Replacement costs are determined by the library and based upon the purchase price of the material. Replacement costs of interlibrary loan items are determined by the lending library’s policies and may exceed the actual price of the material.

Loss of Privilege

Borrowing privileges will be suspended for patrons who accrue more than $10.00 in fines or fees.  The library reserves the right to suspend privileges for chronic or severe misuse of the library, its materials, or its technology services.
