The D. A. Hurd Library appreciates the donation of new and used materials that are clean and in good condition for our upcoming book and bake sale on Saturday, September 6th. Please refer to the guidelines to determine if items can be donated. Due to limited storage space we will only be accepting donations from Monday, August 18th through Thursday, September 4th.
A single box or bag can be given to a staff member at the circulation desk.
Please call (207) 676- 2215 or ask at the circulation desk to schedule a time for a staff member to evaluate larger donations. Do not bring the items into the library. Evaluations of large donations can be scheduled Mondays and Wednesdays 1 - 4 pm, Tuesdays 3:30-6 pm, Thursdays 1- 3 pm, and Saturdays 10 am - 12 pm. Library staff will determine which items from a large donation can be accepted for the book sale.
All material donations must be in quality condition free of odor, obvious wear and tear, and any indication of mold.
Proceeds from the sale of donated materials are used to support library activities.
If you require a require a receipt for tax purposes, please request an acknowledgement of materials when making your donation. The D. A. Hurd Library cannot assign a dollar value to the donation.
By law, libraries cannot assign a dollar amount to your donation, though they may give you a receipt with an item count.
